Coal-fired power generation in Japan has reached higher levels of efficiency than that achieved in the US, Europe, and other Asian countries, thanks to the nation’s technology capable of increasing the steam pressure and temperature used to ultra-supercritical (USC) conditions. However, it must be continued to pursue research in this area to reduce and control the rate and total volume of CO₂ emissions to reduce greenhouse gases.
